Network in VIVO
Dec 1
The US National Center for Research Resources is funding a network for scientists (with a US$12.2-million grant!), to help create collaborations between disciplines and facilitate exchanges between researchers: the VIVO network.
The idea is based on an already existing network, created by at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in 2003, but that was aimed at workers from the Cornell University only.
VIVO will be like a Facebook for scientists, but that compiles official information from institutions like universities, foundations, scientific journals, etc. such as work positions, publications or events. Each researcher will be able to create his own page with all the categories that are interesting to him, a bit like an individualized site.
